My Editing Philosophy
Writing is mostly rewriting, and very rarely a manuscript remains barely changed from the first draft to the final draft. For some writers, multiple drafts are necessary to discover the true story they are trying to tell. For others, drafts are their frenzied ideas for a scene or chapter dashed onto the page that need combing through before they are ready for publication. Whatever your writing process is, I believe any story can become what it is meant to be, no matter what its first draft looks like. I can help you and your story succeed!
My Editing Style
I like to download clients’ pieces as PDFs and edit them by hand on my tablet. While my main focus is not line editing, I may leave some edits to improve readability in a paragraph or suggest a different structure or format in some areas for the client to experiment with how their writing could look on the page. This edited PDF is then sent back to the client with general comments via email. If a client would prefer to receive their edits in another format, I am open to discussing other options with them in a Zoom call.
Editing Session Procedure
After a client’s editing request is accepted, I will schedule a Zoom meeting with the client to discuss their current manuscript. After this meeting, the client will send me a PDF of their work. Once I have edited the piece, I will email it back to the client with my edits and information for payment. Payment is conducted through PayPal or Venmo and is by the word. One manuscript per editing session. See below for my rates.

Content Editing, Two Sessions or More
Generally, the rate is $0.0280/word; contact me for specifics or to discuss other pricing if necessary. A discount will be applied if multiple sessions are scheduled at once.
