Passion for the Written Word
I was the student who always had a book in her backpack or on the corner of her desk. I grew up listening to stories before bed every night and I refused to go anywhere without my current read with me.
My obsession with reading was soon joined by my obsession with writing. Dozens of different worlds and their characters came to me, demanding that I tell their stories. I fell in love with literature page by page and word by word. To this day, some novels leave me speechless.
Fiction: Modern-Day Magic
As a child, I loved the fantasy genre because I loved magic. I wanted to be able to fly or control fire or water like the protagonists in the books I read. I later realized that our world had its own magic: fiction.
I firmly believe that fiction is a powerful tool that uses our imaginations to transport us to different worlds and different time periods. In these diverse environments, we can learn to better understand ourselves, those around us, and the planet we call home.
Fiction calls us to question societal norms, understand other cultures and beliefs, and emulate the actions of heroes…all without making a sound. If that isn’t magic, then I don’t know what is.
Spreading the Magic
I want to spread my love of fiction across the world, as I believe everyone should know of its transformative and enlightening power. In writing my novels, helping others with their manuscripts, and assisting students with their studies, I hope I can share this magic with you.
